"Guido Fawkes"
by Jon Shepherd
In sixteen oh five
Was the trial of a man
Named Guido Fawkes.
He wasn’t the only conspiritor
But he was the first the soldiers caught.
He tried to explode
The Houses of Parliament
Just as King James sat down
On his throne.
He tried hard to change
The land for his friends…
But the Commissioner sent him down
Commissioner sent him down
The plan seemed foolproof
And he never dreamed that it could fail.
But someone had told the authorities
And all of his hopes would end in jail.
He tried to explode
The Houses of Parliament
Just as King James sat down
On his throne.
He tried hard to change
The land for his friends…
But the Commissioner sent him down
Commissioner sent him down
Lord can you hear me?
Why do you treat me so?
Lord can you hear me?
Why do you treat me so?
The judge said “You’re doomed!”
Then sent him back to his dirty cell.
They hung, drew and quartered him
Ending the tale that now we tell.
He tried to explode
The Houses of Parliament
Just as King James sat down
On his throne.
He tried hard to change
The land for his friends…
But the Commissioner sent him down
Commissioner sent him down
In sixteen oh five
Was the trial of a man
Named Guido Fawkes.
He wasn’t the only conspiritor
But he was the first the soldiers caught.
